William Clark is a native of Virginia and was educated in the US, France, and England. He has worked at five agencies, including Virginia Barber Literary Agency and William Morris Agency.

He is a Conservator member of the Young Lions Program at the New York Public Library, a sponsor of The Moth, a member of the New York Shambhala Center, and Literary Curator of the New York club APT. He and his family live in Manhattan.
